Camping With Your Kids
Camping is a leisure where families could enjoy each other company in a cheap but fun manner. Camping is the only activity where groups of individuals including families can value nature while learning about teamwork, basic survival, and most importantly, bonding with one another. Getting away from it all is a concept that motivates plenty of grown-ups who wish to forget about the stresses of work or kids wanting to have some recreational fun and away from school studies.
Prior to embarking on a camping trip with your kids, be sure to carefully plan where to camp and what to bring. Campgrounds differ in lots of ways. Some offer privacy and some allow strangers to come together. Some are safe while some can present some risks. Apart from this, it is also important to consider other peoples preferences, particularly from kids.
An important factor in family camping is the tent/s that will be used. A family with two or more kids would either require two medium sized tents or a large one that will store some of their camping equipments and also give them some spaciousness.
Up to six to eight family member could be housed in a family camping tent but the convenience is reduced when that much people get cramped together in one tent. The desirability of tents with dividers are evident to families due to the privacy they offer. Parents and kids alike would have a sense of security by being together in one tent while enjoying their privacy and the dividers can be removed anytime by one zip.
Aside from tents, other camping equipments are essential to add to a memorable camping experience. Making an advance list of the other essentials is the best way not to forget. To be more organized, grouping them in categories like gears, cash, foods, medical, utensils, entertainment, etc. will reduce the chance of forgetting each one. Food, cash, gears and medicines are the most important of all.
Food and cash are obviously important but gears and first-aid kits should be carefully thought of. Gears include tents, sleeping bags, hiking shoes, etc. Medicines include iodine, flu medicines, ointments, alcohol, and bandages, gauzes and cotton.
As for going camping with kids, the food they prefer should also be meticulously planned as these will be essential to their nutrition in the outdoors. Some foods that are common at home may not be a good idea to bring along when you go camping. Cereals are one example where they usually need milk to be more tastier and nutritious. If you plan to stay several days in a campground devoid of electricity, it would not be a good idea to bring foods that are bound to spoil without refrigeration. Milk and other dairy products fall under these and unless your kids do not mind eating cereals out of the box, it is best to leave cereals and dairies at home. Common and popular foods for the outdoors are canned goods, marshmallows, burgers and hotdogs.
Rain during camping is not exactly considered a fun camping experience. A gloomy and wet weather in a camping trip will probably be a downer for kids expecting to go trekking and do all sorts of activities outdoors. Having some sort of backup will at least make the trip worthwhile. Books, board games, audio players and other toys and gadgets are the type of backups kids will enjoy.
